How did you find out about the internship at Healthwatch Tower Hamlets?
I discovered the internship at Healthwatch Tower Hamlets while attending a career fair at my university. After speaking with a team member and learning more about their work, I decided to join the Team.
What kind of things did you learn during your internship?
My internship at Healthwatch was a valuable learning experience. I sharpened my skills in data handling, interpersonal communication, and survey administration. I gained a deeper understanding of the healthcare system and its diverse roles in our community.
Did the internship improve your learning/confidence or knowledge in a specific area?
The internship did boost my confidence in my ability to interact with people, especially when collecting patient feedback. I learned to approach these interactions with empathy and respect, building rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
What did you enjoy the most about the internship?
I truly enjoyed the variety of tasks I was assigned. Some days were spent in the office working with data, while others involved engaging directly with the community.
Has working with Healthwatch changed how you view health and social care services?
My perspective on health and social care has been transformed. I now understand that healthcare is much more than just doctor's appointments. It encompasses a wide range of factors, including social determinants of health, and requires a patient-centred approach to ensure quality and equitable access for all.
